Hi, I’m Summer Delehanty!
SUH-mur deh-lah-HAN-tee, HAN as in “hand”
Nice to meet you, virtually! I’m a product designer studying Human-centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) and Environmental Science (ESRM) at the University of Washington, Seattle. My passion lies in the intersection of people, technology, and the physical world—I’ve always been fascinating by how people study and interact with their natural and built environment.
Currently, I’m heading back to Washington (state) for my last year of school, after spending the summer with Esri in Washington (D.C.). Between working with Bird Friendly Campus on their collision reporting app and completing my senior capstone, I’m looking forward to another fun and busy year.
Now, for more about who I am as a person, at least one of the following facts about me is true: which do you think it is?

I’ve officiated a wedding.
True or false?
This is true! As of August 2024, I’m an ordained minister and legally allowed to officiate weddings. I did this as a wedding gift for a friend—we had a lovely small ceremony in Los Angeles, California.
I took a year of Estonian (the language).
True or false?
This is true! In my sophomore year of college, I took an 8:30 MWF Estonian class. There were only six of us (including the professor). And no, I did not receive language credits for this, as I’d already completed that requirement. This was just for fun.
I coached at a basketball camp called “Smaller Ballers.”
True or false?
This is true! On Saturday mornings, I would help coach a large group of kids from ages 6-8. I can dunk on an 8-foot hoop, if you were wondering.

Not to sound too pretentious, but I think the most important quality of a designer is their ability to add a unique perspective and advocate for all potential users and scenarios. This means designing beyond the “average person.” I feel that having a breadth of experiences and interests makes me a better designer and a better person, which is why I value being adventurous and not limiting myself to just one thing.
So, outside of work, I keep myself busy. I love birdwatching, which includes wildlife photography and hiking, and am a big fan of live music. I also love making art of any medium (drawing, painting, embroidery, model-building… you name it).
Thanks for checking out my portfolio—feel free to shoot me an email or add me on LinkedIn if you want to chat.
